In February I took a cake decorating class and was so excited to put some of my new skills to use to make the birthday cakes for Ainsley & Tyler's party.
Ainsley's cake was a white Tea Kettle Cake with pink buttercream icing and orange & blue flowers. Here is some of the progression of the cake. I used two bowls to make the layers of the cake so that it would be rounder than a traditional cake. I used white fondant icing for the spout, handle, & lid.

I made the orange roses on a rose nail and then transferred them onto the cake. The little blue flowers I made directly on the cake.

And here is the final product on Ainsley Tea Party table.

For Tyler's VeggieTale theme party, I had to have both Bob & Larry. To make it alot easier on myself, I made Larry the cucumber out of rice krispy treats and then iced him with green buttercream icing.

Larry's eyes are white fondant icing and black gel icing. His party hat is blue buttercream icing to look like ice cream & of course a Braum's sugar cone.

Bob the Tomato started with two chocolate cakes also baked in bowls and iced with red buttercream icing.
His eyes and teeth are also white fondant icing. I gave him a stem of green fondant.
And here and the final party veggies!
I had a lot of fun making them. They were so cute that it was hard to cut them up to eat, but we did and they were delicious! Although Gigi thought Larry was too cute to just throw out, so he is in the freezer with Grandpa's Emmy cake.
